Projection of Gaze
2024
Watercolor and colored pencil on a transparent paper roll
approx. 300 × 33 cm
Künstlerstadt Kalbe, Germany
Projection of Gaze is a work that brings together impressions of various locations in the small German town of Kalbe into a continuous visual composition.
The motifs, drawn on both the front and back of a semi-transparent roll of paper, overlap, permeate, and shift depending on the viewer’s perspective.
This work is not a simple landscape representation but rather a space where the artist’s gaze on the town and the viewer’s gaze on the artwork intersect. As the viewer's eyes wander across the unrolled paper, ever-changing scenes emerge, allowing them to experience how their own gaze merges with the images and becomes part of the work.
